A Day At The Zoo!

Posted on 11-04-2019 | Posted by Lewis Newell

We recently loaned one of our refurbished Philips IU22 scanners out to Bristol Zoo and the Wild Place Project. MIUS were kindly offered an inside view of what the veterinary departments get up to on a daily basis. The ultrasound scanner was used by specilist Professor Wencke Du Plessis who was able to provide clear crisp imaging with the Philips Scanner supplied.

Monday morning started at Wild Place Project with Harshit The Gelada baboon, who had reoccurring swelling on his left cheek. The ultrasound scanner was used to check the lump on his head and to see if there was any blockages before it was drained. Harshit was put under anesthetic although MIUS' Lewis Newell was half way out the door when his arm moved.

Bristol Zoo was the next location for the scanner where Dougal the Ferret was having a check up.

Bearded Dragons Adelaide and Sydney were next on the table. They lived up to their Australian based names by looking incredibly relaxed on their backs whilst being scanned.

On day two some of the female Squirrel Monkeys were being scanned and having their 3 year check ups.

Thank you to Bristol Zoo and Wild Place Project for allowing us to come behind the scenes and experience a day in your lives!

"I thought I would drop you a quick email to let you know how happy I am with your service. Starting with Fraser who stayed in contact throughout the process updating me, he has received several phone calls from me asking questions and has always been contactable. Your team at head office for our training day could not be more helpful and thorough, I thought the hands on training let me understand a lot more about the service we now offer. Finally to your fitting team “utterly exceptional”, they were very professional and caused little to no disruption to the rest of the practice. I could not have wished for it to go any better you have a VERY happy customer."

"This is our first dealing with MIUS. I took Fraser's advice and bought the Siui 900 as a spare equine repro scanner at a budget price but am so happy with its image quality and ease of use that I am using it now on a daily basis. Great battery life, lightweight and good image size. Very impressed with the after sales service from Fraser and the team. Will definitely deal with MIUS again."

"Apologies for not emailing you sooner. Firstly I would like to thank you and MIUS for providing us with an excellent loan machine. As I indicated in my last email, we are incredibly dependent upon ultrasound, and feel quite blind without it. To have a high quality machine makes life a whole lot easier for us.Your excellent customer service and care once again has been proven, and is why I unhesitatingly recommend you to colleagues when they are looking for an ultrasound machine. With kind regards"

"Dear Fraser, Thank you for calling in today and giving your usual excellent after sales service. My thoughts on the Siui Apogee 2100V Easy and Quick set up. Lovely large clear screen and the ability to use more of it that was previously possible with the full screen view. I like the ease and quickness of in-putting patient details and intuitiveness of key board for simplicity of use. It is very quick and easy to save images to the machine or to printer or USB both, still and cine images. Very happy customer especially as this unit also represents very good value for money compared with other units on the market."

"It was great to have one point of contact at MIUS during the pre-installation phase as this made the liaison so much easier. The MIUS team were very good at liaising with our RPA and getting them the information that they needed and this worked very well. During installation, the team were great; efficient, polite, thorough and professional. The training that we received was great and completely necessary - Denise and Ann were fantastic!"
